NDCD Head expects mass immunization to begin from July

Amiran Gamkrelidze, Head of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC), said the government is holding negotiations with Novavax Company on the purchase of one million vaccine shots.

He reported that Georgia would receive Covid vaccines from different producers during the year. Direct purchases from Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson are pending. The arrival of additional vaccines from AstraZeneca stands.

Gamkrelidze said the immunization information campaign is expanding. “We are likely to transform onto the stage of mass immunization from July that means having at least half of a million shots in storage,” Gamkrelidze said.
