NBG denies rumours of not imposing restrictions on sanctioned financial institutions

The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) denies rumours that it is not imposing any restrictions on sanctioned financial institutions.

NBG claims “this is a false accusation and a part of the war and aggression, which currently is taking place in Ukraine.”

It pledges that NBG is acting in accordance with the international resolutions and standards and cannot and will not help evade implementing these sanctions.

“As any banking supervisory organization, our aim is to protect the interests of depositors and our actions are aimed towards this aim only.

Today, when all of Georgia is standing by the Ukrainian people and supports their fair fight for democratic values, it is crucial to prevent the spread of disinformation and false information,” it noted.
