NATO and Georgia are working closely together, Jens Stoltenberg says
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg spoke about the worsened security environment in the Black Sea region and developments around Ukraine ahead of NATO meeting with defense ministers.
Focusing on “serious military build-up” around Ukraine and increased presence in the Eastern partnership alliance, NATO Chief said the Alliance was sending a very clear message to any potential adversary that NATO would protect its allies.
Jens Stoltenberg said free, independent, and sovereign states had the right to choose any alliance they wanted to join, also mentioning Georgia in that context.
NATO Secretary-General said NATO continues partnership with Georgia. NATO and Georgia were working closely together. They had joint activities and military exercises.
“We continue to provide support to the reform efforts; we continue to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia. So this is part of the regular, important coordination between Georgia and NATO,” Stoltenberg said.
