National Food Agency seizes out-of-date medicines at Vet Pharmacy in Chakvi

During a routine inspection, officers from the Adjara Department of the National Food Agency discovered expired veterinary medicines at a pharmacy operated by an individual entrepreneur, identified as E.K., at 34 Tamar Mepe Street in the town of Chakvi.

According to the National Food Agency, the seized items included an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory pine ointment, an antimicrobial disinfectant solution, and an antiparasitic injectable solution.

“The expired pharmaceuticals will be destroyed under the direct supervision of the agency. In order to safeguard domestic animal health and welfare, the National Food Agency continues to conduct rigorous inspections of veterinary clinics and pharmacies nationwide. The agency urges all business operators to conduct their activities in strict compliance with the law, ensuring that product expiry dates are monitored and storage conditions are properly maintained,” the agency said in a statement.
