The National Food Agency has published the final results of its comprehensive food safety monitoring conducted across public kindergartens.

The agency announced that laboratory testing is complete for all 694 samples of various animal and non-animal food products. Every tested sample fully met established food safety standards.

“Following cases of norovirus-induced gastroenteritis among children in Tbilisi kindergartens, the National Food Agency immediately launched a multi-faceted investigation.

The agency’s Inspection teams examined kindergarten catering units alongside meat and dairy processing facilities. As part of the monitoring process, laboratory tests were conducted on various food items collected from the kindergartens, including fruit and vegetables; dairy products (cheese, milk powder, UHT liquid milk, butter, and sour cream); meat and poultry (beef and chicken); grains, prepared meals, and drinking water. The testing evaluated indicators such as heavy metals, nitrates, microbiological parameters, and pathogens (aerobic microorganisms, coliforms, Salmonella, Shigella, and coagulase-positive Staphylococci),” the National Food Agency statement noted.
