National Environment Agency issues alert on worsening weather conditions

The National Environment Agency (NEA) issued an alert on worsening weather conditions.

According to the NEA, heavy snowfall, dense fog, strong winds and blizzards are forecast in the mountainous regions, while 3-4 magnitude storms are expected at the Black Sea from December 31 till January 3.

The agency further noted that travel restrictions might be imposed on certain highways due to heavy snowfall, poor visibility, blizzards, ice, and avalanche risks.

Expected precipitation may cause swelling of small rivers and formation-activation of the land sliding processes in the highly elevated areas (threat level-medium), the Agency said.
