MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili: MEPs have long been uninterested in truth; any dissent meets sanctions

“For a long time, MEPs have shown little interest in anything related to the truth,” MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of Georgian Dream, told GPB First Channel.

According to Sharmanashvili, deviating even slightly from their mainstream narrative, whether by scrutinising it critically or engaging in discussion, renders one their enemy, prompting immediate sanctions and punitive measures.

“This is outright persecution by the European Parliament. One MEP openly said that they are not finished yet and have further plans. This was not a simple misdemeanour or administrative matter, but a clear political attack. It amounts to persecution of free speech, where the administration is not involved in following any misconduct, but rather the MEPs themselves seek to punish media outlets that defend and promote free speech. For a long time now, MEPs have shown no genuine interest in the pursuit of truth. If you stray even slightly from their narrative, cast a critical eye, or voice dissent, you become their target, and they will move swiftly to impose sanctions and punishments,” Sharmanashvili emphasised.
