MP Sharmanashvili: Opposition won't mobilise anyone on May 26; their support is non-existent

“When Khabeishvili was outside and planning a peaceful overthrow, no one would have known what he was going to do. I doubt anyone would even understand his intentions from a prison cell,” said MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of Georgian Dream.

According to him, the opposition is just making noise; they won’t be able to organise anything on May 26.

“They won’t be able to mobilise anyone because their support is zero. If Khabeishvili were outside, he would surely acknowledge that. Believe me, they won’t achieve anything. The Opposition Alliance is a stillborn union. Whether they formally disband or not doesn’t matter. Everyone in Georgia has realised this is just an artificially created alliance, comprising people who can barely stand each other. This isn’t even propaganda on our part; simply releasing their correspondence without any comment will reveal everything about how much they ‘love’ each other,” Sharmanashvili asserted.

Levan Khabeishvili, a member of the United National Movement, stated during the court hearing on May 5: “I ask the opposition to let me know if there is a rally planned for May 26, so everyone is clear. Unfortunately, there is no campaign or activity scheduled for May 26.”
