MP Sharashidze: Exclusion from enlargement process is a problem; EU demands only one thing from Georgia: to honour its obligations

“When you are not even a participant in the enlargement process, that is a serious problem. If you want to be part of this process, you must do the decent thing and uphold every requirement and obligation you personally took on when granted candidate status,” MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, told GPB First Channel.

Sharashidze was asked to comment on the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee meeting on enlargement, to which Georgia has not been invited.

“If anyone is to blame for Georgia being frozen out of the enlargement process, it is Georgian Dream itself. No one is simply ignoring us for no reason. The European Union is asking only one thing of Georgia: to honour its commitments, including the rule of law and human rights,” Sharashidze stated.
