MP Sepashvili highlights constructive dialogue with Congress members on Georgia’s global role and strengthening of strategic partnership
Eka Sepashvili, representing the parliamentary opposition from People’s Power, has stated that members of Georgia’s parliamentary delegation met with U.S. congressmen as part of their official visit to the United States.
According to Sepashvili, the meetings took place in a positive atmosphere and centred on Georgia’s global role, its strategic significance, and the development of closer economic relations.
“There was a lively and substantive exchange of views on Georgia’s global role, its strategic position, the importance of developing economic relations, and the further deepening of healthy partnership ties. The inaugural conference of the Alliance of Sovereign Nations has now officially opened. Throughout the day, a series of panels will be held addressing freedom of speech and censorship, energy security, and the role and place of sovereign states in the modern global order.
From our side, the initiative was put forward to begin our relations on a clean slate, one that should, in time, develop into closer strategic cooperation. This idea was met with considerable support, and I hope the dialogue will continue and translate into concrete outcomes,” said Eka Sepashvili.
The parliamentary delegation is led by Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, and includes Mariam Lashkhi, Chair of the Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, Lika Shartava, a member of the Committee on European Integration, and Eka Sepashvili, representing the parliamentary opposition from People’s Power.
