“Freedom of expression in the EU and the United States is at a high level, which could not be said about the situation in Georgia,” stated MP Giga Parulava, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.

He added that the government is exploiting the report from the U.S. House Judiciary Committee for its own propaganda purposes.

“Is Mamuka Mdinaradze perhaps in the United States to clarify all this? We’ll see what results he brings back. As for freedom of expression, it remains robust in the European Union and the United States, a stark contrast to Georgia, where people are being detained for simply standing on the sidewalk. We are also discussing draft laws that would prohibit individuals from engaging in political activity without government approval.

The United States and the EU will take care of their own relations; they don’t need the assessments of the Georgian Dream. The government is merely using this as a tool to strengthen its propaganda,” Parulava concluded.
