MP Parulava: If Baramidze is criminally charged for war comments, Kobakhidze, Mdinaradze, and others are no less guilty of severe treason

“If Georgian Dream intends to criminalise Giorgi Baramidze’s political statements, then Irakli Kobakhidze, Mamuka Mdinaradze, and all those who blame Georgia for starting the war have committed no less grave a crime,” declared For Georgia party MP Giga Parulava.

Parulava accused the ruling administration of systematically undermining national security and acting against the core national interests.

“Giorgi Baramidze’s statement was a grave political offence and he ought to face political accountability for it. However, if Georgian Dream shifts this matter into a criminal domain, then first and foremost, Iago Khvichia, who recorded, edited, and broadcast that programme to the public, should also be incarcerated. That was not a live broadcast; it was an edited programme that remains online to this day. Following their own logic, why is that material still accessible to the public?

When Georgian Dream prosecutes Baramidze for a specific statement, I must draw a parallel and state that Mdinaradze, Kobakhidze, and those members of Georgian Dream who continue to blame Georgia for starting the war bear no less responsibility for an equally severe crime. Whether today or tomorrow, they will inevitably face the strictest accountability for actions taken against our national interests.

Georgian Dream acts directly to the detriment of the nation’s interests. A former Minister of Internal Affairs has been indicted for establishing a Georgian police checkpoint on sovereign Georgian territory. They are not merely making political statements; through their actions, they are handing the occupying regime a legal pretext to oppose the de-occupation of our country,” Parulava stated.
