“As the municipal elections approach, it appears they [opposition] are gradually recognising that the so-called peaceful revolution has no prospects. This is precisely what we have been telling our society, said MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament, commenting on Giorgi Gakharia’s statement.

According to Makhashvili, the scenario of a revolution has no future in Georgia and cannot materialise.

“On October 4, the elections will be held normally and peacefully. The people will express their views, and the country will continue to develop. All talk of crises, revolutions, or overthrows is empty rhetoric; this scenario has no future in Georgia and never will.

The mandate of the Georgian people is for the country’s development, progress, and stability, not for revolutions or overthrows. Anyone who entertains this scenario should expect, at the very least, a political defeat in the elections. If the legal framework is breached, of course, the state will respond accordingly with the appropriate legal measures,Makhashvili emphasised.

The chairman of the Gakharia for Georgia party, Giorgi Gakharia, declared on one of Georgian media outlet:Declaring revolution and peaceful overthrow after an electoral boycott, on October 4, at the appointed day, at the appointed place, at the appointed time, was the greatest gift to Georgian Dream, which used this madness to mask its limited legitimacy and show Georgian citizens what the alternative looks like.”
