MP Maia Bitadze: Joe Wilson’s biased resolution passed on barely 38 votes; it was pre-scripted political charade

The Chair of the Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Committee of the Parliament of Georgia, MP Maia Bitadze, has taken to social media to respond to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly’s adoption of the Hague Declaration, which includes a specific resolution targeting Georgia.

As Maia Bitadze noted, the false and biased resolution initiated by Joe Wilson, which passed on just 38 votes, was nothing more than a pre-scripted, carefully orchestrated political charade.

“Out of 323 parliamentarians representing the OSCE’s 57 member states, only 239 were even present at the 33rd Session in The Hague. Joe Wilson’s false and biased resolution on Georgia was pushed through on a mere 38 votes, a pre-written and staged charade! However, as soon as the session ended, delegates flooded over to our delegation to express their profound regret.

One would almost think we had forced them to orchestrate and act out this entire script. This is the tragic outcome of a growing trend towards the weakening of global institutions,” Maia Bitadze wrote.

For context, the resolution, entitled “Upholding Election Integrity and Fundamental Freedoms in Georgia”, was initiated by US Congressman Joe Wilson.
