MP Machavariani: EU integration is not about von der Leyen, Kallas or Kos, it’s about values
“The path to the European Union doesn’t run through Ursula von der Leyen, nor through Kallas, nor through Kos; it’s about values, which is why we aspire to join the European Union,” stated parliamentary majority member Levan Machavariani whilst commenting on the European Commission’s enlargement report.
According to Machavariani, he hopes that by 2030, when EU enlargement is officially planned, the situation will have changed radically.
“The circulation of lies and absolutely unsubstantiated accusations starts precisely from the day military operations began in Ukraine. The reason was that Georgia refused to open a second front. The path to the European Union doesn’t run through Ursula von der Leyen, nor through Kallas, nor through Kos; it’s about values, which is why we aspire to join the European Union. Today, in the hands of these Eurocrats, who are directly pawns of the ‘Deep State’, the European Union is far removed from these values.
We remain hopeful that by 2030, when EU enlargement is officially scheduled, the situation will have changed dramatically within the next five years. We see that several countries in the European Union have begun to awaken. Georgia and the Georgian people exemplify how to defend one’s country’s sovereignty steadfastly. Accordingly, no one will prevent us from being the most prepared country in 2030, so that we can join the European Union,” Levan Machavariani stated.
“I would remind you that in the European Commission report published approximately a month ago, Georgia is in a leading position in all directions that were the subject of criticism yesterday. We’re ahead not only of EU candidate countries, but also of member states. Whilst we remain under such a regime of attacks, we have no other choice. We must respond, because we are a proud country, though we always respond with facts and arguments, not perceptions. Accordingly, we expect that the attitude towards Georgia will change. Our foreign policy course is pro-Western and constitutionally enshrined. No one can cite a single example of what Georgian Dream has done that’s pro-Russian over 13 years, or how it has increased Russian influence in Georgia,” Levan Machavariani stated.
