“They want to turn each of our achievements into a weapon of blackmail. They have only one last bullet of blackmail left to use against Georgia, although there is no moral, legal, or political basis for it,” said Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority, responding to a question about the possible suspension of EU visa-free travel.
According to Kirtskhalia, the Georgian population cannot be subjected to blackmail.
“We are talking about people who, from the very day our country began to make progress, have been running to Brussels to report to their patrons, trying to block every success Georgia achieves and prevent our citizens from benefiting. Why? Because they have one goal — to destroy everything in this country. Our society and homeland mean nothing to them.
They continue the same behaviour today, saying that they do not demand sanctions against the population, but they supported sanctions against members of Georgian Dream. They know very well that no one is afraid of these sanctions. Just as our society cannot be blackmailed, neither can our team. This is their last bullet of blackmail — and there is no reason to fire it,” Kirtskhalia said.
