“Representatives of radical groups are attempting to bypass the law to obtain funding, which they then use for activities they are deeply concerned the public might scrutinise thoroughly,” stated MP Rati Ionatamishvili, Chairman of the Human Rights Protection Committee of the Parliament of Georgia.

According to Ionatamishvili, there will be a democratic response to every such anti-democratic attempt.

“Since the draft Law on Grants was first introduced, the need for clear regulations has become increasingly evident. We have once again seen how radical groups strive to circumvent legal provisions to access funding, using it for activities they fear the public will investigate in detail. We will respond democratically to every anti-democratic effort,” Ionatamishvili affirmed.
