MP Gorduladze: The likes of MEP Juknevičienė and Rep Joe Wilson use resolutions to claim they know what is best for Georgia’s future

“Resolutions prepared by the likes of Rasa and Joe Wilson are not worth a single cent because they are riddled with lies,” stated MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliament’s Legal Issues Committee.

According to Gorduladze, there are attempts to portray individuals implicated in attempted coups and violent protests as political prisoners.

“These people want to repeal the Laws on Family Values and Transparency so that LGBT propaganda can be allowed in kindergartens and schools, which is absolutely out of the question. In Joe Wilson’s own country, a much stricter transparency law, FARA, is in force, which has been translated into Georgian legislation.

These individuals are using resolutions to attack Georgia, the Georgian people, and their democratic choice. They take it upon themselves to claim that they know what is best for Georgia’s future better than Georgian society does. They explicitly wrote in the European Parliament resolution that the Georgian Church is supposedly under Russian influence. This is unacceptable and unheard of. Because of all this, public trust in European structures is declining, and they only have themselves to blame,” Archil Gorduladze said.

US Congressman Joe Wilson introduced a draft resolution on Georgia to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, which was subsequently supported by the OSCE PA’s Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions.
