MP Gorduladze sees UNM "spread-out like dovetail", but united in opposing Georgian people's will

“The National Movement (UNM) is spread out like a dovetail, and it doesn’t matter who participates in the local self-government elections. What truly matters is the will of the Georgian people, which they are opposing,” stated Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee.

According to Gorduladze, the opposition will be defeated in their tenth election, resulting in zero gains.

Additionally, he noted that, in reality, there is no genuine disagreement within the National Movement parties; all are united under the directives of their patrons.

“I’ll borrow Nika Melia’s words — the so-called processes within the UNM parties are a farce, as if there’s a confrontation among them. In truth, no such confrontation exists. They have always been, and remain, united under their patrons’ directives,” Gorduladze stated.

He argued that the parties are merely pretending to have disagreements to deceive the public and justify their actions.

“They are trying to create pretexts to fulfil their respective assignments. If their goal is to participate in the elections, they will issue a statement confirming their intention; if they wish to abstain, they will claim they did everything possible to avoid participating,” he explained.

Gorduladze emphasised that the UNM is like a spread-out dovetail, indifferent to who partakes in the local self-government elections. “What truly matters is the will of the Georgian people, which they are actively fighting against,” he concluded.
