“Mr Anita [referring to Levan Khabeishvili from UNM], who has already become a comical figure in society and politics, if we can even call him a politician, does not even dare to voice the task he has been given,” MP Archil Gorduladze, a member of the parliamentary majority, remarked.
According to Gorduladze, Khabeishvili has been assigned to promote unrest in Georgia and is supposed to emulate these actions. Gorduladze further explained that Khabeishvili is currently talking about a peaceful coup, as he does not dare to voice the real assignment.
“What does a ‘peaceful coup’ mean? This phrase is meaningless to everyone. They don’t even dare to state what task they have been assigned. The reality is that the faction representing both the old and new United National Movement has been tasked, on one hand, with escalating tensions, and on the other, with attempting to divide the Lelo and Gakharia factions away from their ranks. Now, we see this masquerade. They are attempting to sway public opinion and portray these actions as a peaceful revolution or rebellion, a manoeuvre orchestrated by the so-called Deep State to incite unrest, coups, and velvet revolutions, including in our own country in the past,” Gorduladze explained.
The ruling party MP added that the future will reveal whether the opposition aligns with Khabeishvili’s stance or not.
“The main thing for everyone to remember is that the state and its institutions are functioning at their best. Both the Georgian Dream team and Georgian society stand firm, and we will not allow chaos or a Maidan to take hold. Any attempts to implement such plans will be swiftly suppressed,” Gorduladze asserted.
Levan Khabeishvili, chairman of the United National Movement’s political council, recently posted on social media: “If a politician refuses to participate in the ‘elections’ of an illegitimate government, then the second option is a peaceful overthrow; there is no third path.”
