UNM’s Khabeishvili: No third path: either participate in illegitimate elections or pursue peaceful revolution
“If a politician refuses to participate in the ‘elections’ of an illegitimate government, the only alternative is a peaceful overthrow, a peaceful revolution! There is no third path,” declares Levan Khabeishvili, Chair of the Political Council of the United National Movement opposition party, on social media.
Khabeishvili states he will join the rally called by Paata Burchuladze on October 4.
“We heard you’re boycotting, and then what?! If you don’t organise a rally, a protest, or support resistance and peaceful overthrow, what’s your plan?! Who are you?! What path are you taking? What are you saying?” Khabeishvili stated.
He criticises those debating on TV: “You’re just talking on TV about what could happen, calling for patience, or watching the real events unfold. Waiting for the EU and the U.S. to speak… Are you slandering us? Fooling us?!
Are you afraid to declare war because you fear losing? Do you want to win with such fear? Fellows, it won’t work that way! Either stand and fight openly, showing the people the way, or return to the ‘elections’ and stop wasting time!”
Khabeishvili accuses critics of avoiding confrontation out of fear, claiming, “You cannot let your fears interfere with your actions. Are you trying to defeat Bidzina by inaction or ‘sneaking in’? Do you think you can wait it out? You’ve appeared on TV three times, and feel like being popular?
Step outside your comfort zone, look beyond your small, idle circle of five or ten people. The train has already left without you, and along with Ivanishvili, you risk being left behind, such is the nature of it.
You have fallen into gutter gossip, whispering behind people’s backs, spreading rumours like “This person said,” “That person liked,” “This person shared,” “They met someone,” or “They spoke to someone.” Cease wasting your time on such trivial, irrelevant topics. Avoid endless speculation and superficial scrutiny; focus on what truly matters instead.
A broader public union is clearly maturing, and this is evident even to the untrained eye!
Paata Burchuladze, on Rustaveli Avenue, has declared October 4 as Victory Day. As an ordinary citizen of Georgia, I am ready to stand as a humble servant of this cause. May God bless Georgia!” Khabeishvili wrote on social media.
