MP Gorduladze: EU's unelected bureaucracy disrespects countries; Georgia should not trust their statements

“We have exposed the Euro-bureaucracy time and again with facts regarding their lies and attacks on Georgia. The current unelected bureaucracy of the European Union has no interest in pursuing any interests, no respect for countries, and no equal treatment,” the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, MP Archil Gorduladze, has stated.

According to Gorduladze, this bureaucracy has frequently been exposed to corruption, and the international legal standards that previously existed are no longer in place.

“We have exposed the Euro-bureaucracy time and again with facts regarding their lies and attacks on Georgia. They make comments on precisely the same facts and expose them, including the current administration of the United States. We see that in the current unelected bureaucracy of the European Union, there is no pursuit of any interests, no respect for countries, and no equal treatment. This bureaucracy has frequently been exposed for corruption. The previous international legal standards no longer apply.

Neither a country’s sovereignty nor the protection of human rights matters for this bureaucracy. Finally, they have even gone so far as to claim that Moldova is somehow ahead of Georgia. This is an absolute lie that they are spreading. Accordingly, Georgian society should not place any hope in their statements and decisions,” Gorduladze stated.

According to him, as regards Georgia, it is fulfilling the obligations it has under bilaterally concluded agreements.

“For example, we are bringing our legislation into compliance with EU law, which is an ongoing process. It has been stated repeatedly by the country’s highest officials and our team’s leaders that by 2030, Georgia will be the most prepared for EU membership. The rest is a political decision, and under the current bureaucracy, it is obvious that a decision favourable to Georgia will not be taken,” Archil Gorduladze declared.
