MP Gorduladze: British government is not only abusing free speech and media, but embarrassing thousands of viewers of these channels

“The so-called BBC documentary, which was in fact propaganda material, was produced for entirely unfounded political reasons. The decision by the British government, led by what I call the ‘Deep State’, is reminiscent of similar abuse, undermining not only free speech and the media but also humiliating thousands of viewers of these channels,” stated MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs.

He further remarked that they are insulting the intelligence of the public, as if they cannot distinguish between truth and propaganda.

“Channels like Imedi and PosTV tell the truth, which is why they enjoy the support of the Georgian people. Yet, we see an attack on Georgia from the British side. Both TV companies continue to operate, and such attacks will not succeed. In 2007, Saakashvili shut down these media outlets, and at that time, Great Britain did not issue a single statement. Now, they are mounting these attacks,” added Gorduladze.
