MP Archil Gorduladze: EP Resolutions are no longer worth a single tetri, not even a single Euro cent

“The resolutions passed by the European Parliament are no longer worth a single tetri, not even a single Euro cent,” stated MP Archil Gorduladze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Legal Issues Committee.

He added that the sheer volume of statements and resolutions adopted by the European Parliament demonstrates that these actions possess no effective mechanism or leverage.

“Otherwise, they would not have to make such statements so many times. Naturally, their goal is to stir up unrest in society. Against the backdrop of this turmoil, puppets dancing to someone else’s tune are attempting to impose external governance on our country. They are failing in all of this; their revolutionary scenarios have collapsed five times, and they have failed to overthrow the government.

As for the content of the resolution, it is a textbook example of the kind of past that existed across Europe in the 1930s and 1940s, as well as what existed in Eastern Europe and Asia for 70 years. By right, the modern world should have repudiated all of this, but we see that people with such a mindset still exist, including, unfortunately, within the Euro-bureaucracy. Some people who couldn’t find Georgia on a map claim to have complete information about the country’s political and social environment. In reality, the individuals behind these statements want to establish direct rule over our region, particularly in Georgia. They aim to trample democracy underfoot and, crucially, ensure that decision-making power no longer rests within the country. This is precisely why we are witnessing such attacks and such blackmail,” Gorduladze stated.

According to him, the European Union stands on the brink of a civilisational abyss, and genuine European values must be restored across the bloc.

“The spirit of the resolution implies that, apparently, there are certain individuals, and then there is everyone else. Apparently, only specific persons are permitted to enjoy certain rights, while everyone else must be segregated and marginalised. This is nothing new, particularly given that the author of the resolution and report is Rasa Juknevičienė. She has previously deeply insulted more than 1,120,000 government supporters, making statements reminiscent of 1930s and 1940s Germany and Italy.

If they had the opportunity, they might go so far as to directly distinguish people with specific clothing or special badges on their garments, and then carry out everything that used to happen in various camps. Within this bureaucracy, we can no longer see either the past or the present, which is yet another regrettable development. It confirms once more that, because of such events, the European Union stands before a civilisational abyss, and it is essential that the real Europe and true European values return to the European Union,” Gorduladze said.

For context, the European Parliament resolution adopted on June 17 states: “We call on the European Commission to establish a mechanism that preserves visa-free access to the EU for civil society activists, journalists, and students.”
