Moldovan Parliamentary Speaker: Georgian PM misses no chance to criticise Moldova out of envy over our swift EU integration

“The Prime Minister of Georgia misses no opportunity to criticise Moldova because he envies our rapid European integration, even though Russia has still banned imports of Georgian produce,” Moldovan Parliament President Igor Grosu has stated during a broadcast on Moldovan television.

The Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament was asked about current relations between Moldova and Russia.

According to him, Russia shows no respect for neighbouring states. As an example, Grosu pointed to Georgia, which he said had chosen a different tactic towards Moscow, “yet Russia still banned product imports from Georgia”.

“Information emerged today showing how Russia has treated Georgia, which chose a different tactic. The Georgian Prime Minister misses no opportunity to criticise Moldova. What we are seeing here is largely envy because Moldova is progressing much faster towards European integration. This comes despite Georgia’s double-dealing stance, where Georgia helps Russia evade sanctions and, in such a cynical manner, tries to profit from this war, which is clearly their political choice. Yet, despite all this, we are reading today that Russia’s Rospotrebnadzor is suddenly unhappy with Georgian wine, mineral water, beer, and fruit alike. For us, this is déjà vu. Moldova has already been through this, back when they were crushing our wine with tractors. This serves as an example of how disrespectfully the aggressor country treats neighbouring states,” Igor Grosu stated.
