Ministry of Economy: Record-breaking passenger numbers at Georgian airports in 2025
Based on data for the first eleven months of 2025, Georgian airports have achieved unprecedented figures in passenger traffic and flight operations. The Ministry of Economy reports that during this period, up to eight million passengers were served, marking a historic milestone.
Georgian airports handled a total of 7,863,534 passengers in the period from January to November, representing a 14% increase compared to the same months in 2024, which saw 6,908,493 passengers.
During this timeframe, the number of regular flights reached 26,855, while charter flights numbered 8,250. Overall, the total flights operated over eleven months amounted to 35,105, surpassing the 29,871 flights last year by 18%.
Tbilisi International Airport accommodated 4,981,865 passengers, reflecting a 13% rise compared to the same period in 2024. Kutaisi International Airport served 1,692,513 passengers, a 7% increase year-on-year. Batumi International Airport experienced the most significant growth, with 1,165,767 passengers, a 30% rise compared to last year.
Cargo transportation also maintained high growth rates in the fourth quarter. Over the past eleven months, the total air cargo volume reached 33,924,485 tonnes, representing a 49% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
In terms of passenger numbers from January to November 2025, Wizz Air remains the leading airline in the Georgian aviation market. The airline holds a 17% market share, transporting 1,309,716 passengers. The top three carriers by passenger volume on international regular and charter flights are: Wizz Air Hungary (17%), Georgian Airways (8%), Pegasus (7%), and Turkish Airlines (7%).
