Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Lives of Georgian sailors disappeared in Congo waters are not in danger

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has published a statement in connection with the ship disappeared in the territorial waters of Congo seven days ago.

According to the state agency, the PANTELENA ship, which disappeared on August 23, has been found and currently the ship is heading to the Lomes port in Togo republic.

As Ministry reports, the lives of 17 Georgian sailors aboard are not in danger and their health condition is satisfactory.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Maritime Transport Agency ensured the involvement of all parties in the search process. All sectoral and diplomatic levers, maritime and regional organizations have been used in the West African region, “- the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has intensive contact with the ship owner company to supply the crew with the basic needs – drinking water, food and more.

According to the Ministry, detailed information will be provided to the public and the media after the full completion of the mission, when the ship enters safe waters.
