Minister of Economy: Private sector confirms government-identified accuracy of price increase factors, possibility and willingness to reduce prices
“At the current stage of the Coordination Commission’s work, the private sector confirmed three main issues,” said Mariam Kvrivishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, following the meeting of the Cross-Government Coordination Commission on Food Prices, attended by representatives of distribution companies.
According to Mariam Kvrivishvili, the private sector confirmed the government-identified accuracy of price increase factors, the possibility of reducing prices, and the readiness of businesses to reduce prices through their initiated mechanisms.
The Minister clarified that the initiatives put forth today will be studied by the commission in detail to determine if they are sufficient to reduce prices to a level and scale that is in the interest of every citizen of the country.
“Cooperation with business will continue in order to take maximum care of the interests of the population and, at the same time, to try our best to reduce prices as much as possible,” Mariam Kvrivishvili stated.
The Cross-Government Coordination Commission, led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, addressing the prices of food products, medicines, and fuel, will meet with food products producers next week.
