Minister of Economy: Georgian tourism diversified; Number of tourists from Europe, China, Israel, the Gulf, neighboring countries growing

Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili participated in the session  on “Trade, Investment, Sustainable Development in the Face of Global Challenges” held within the framework of the Conference of Ambassadors.

Mariam Kvrivishvili, along with key economic trends, focused on the 2025 accomplishments in the tourism sector and future plans. She highlighted that the tourism sector was one of the driving forces for the Georgian economy.

“The results we have in this direction are unprecedented. The income from the tourism sector for the first three quarters of this year is a record and amounts to USD 3.6 billion. Georgian tourism is quite diversified, and despite claims that we are dependent on only one country, the statistics clearly indicate otherwise. The number of tourists coming from Europe, China, Israel, the Gulf, and the neighboring countries is growing. With this balance, we ensure that the tourism sector grows despite many challenges,” she said.

The Minister accentuated the significance of direct flights, saying that for the first time, the largest number of airlines entered Georgia with direct flights; therefore, today more than 70 airlines operate direct flights to 120 destinations in the country, which “significantly strengthens the country’s international access and tourist attraction.”

Mariam Kvrivishvili emphasized strategic cooperation between Georgia and China and extended gratitude to the Ambassadors for their involvement in processes and their efforts.

“We will place special emphasis next year on the so-called long-distance countries. I would single out China, which stands out for its growth within the framework of our strategic cooperation, be it trade, tourism, or cargo turnover. We are working very actively to increase the frequency of direct flights and add new cities to have more access to China’s tourist and trade markets,” she concluded.
