Minister of Agriculture meets Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya

Georgian Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture, Davit Songhulashvili, met with Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development of Kenya, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe, within the framework of the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), which takes place from 8 to 12 December at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.

Davit Songhulashvili and Mutahi Kagwe reviewed bilateral cooperation prospects – the export of wine, nuts, apples, fruit, and vegetable juices from Georgia to Kenya, and the export of tea, coffee, and tropical fruits from Kenya to Georgia. The sides emphasized the significance of exchange and sharing best practices, the development of joint research and innovation.

Davit Songhulashvili remarked that Georgia was ready to deepen partnership relations with Kenya.

“Importing products from Kynia and their re-export will contribute to Georgia’s establishment as a regional hub that would make our country a reliable partner for Kenya,” he said.

The ministers expressed their readiness to continue close cooperation in the fields of agriculture, including livestock farming, and trade, which will contribute to the implementation of bilateral initiatives and partnership strengthening.

Georgian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Permanent Representative to the African Union, Gia Macharadze, and Deputy Minister Nino Tandilashvili attended the meeting.
