Mikheil Janelidze - Vano Merabishvili's case is not the subject of politicians' assessment

Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Janelidze believes that the case of former Prime Minister of Georgia Vano Merabishvili is not the subject of politicians’ assessment.

“Vano Merabishvili’s case is not the subject of politicians’ assessment”, – Minister answered to the journalist’s question – how does he assess the statement of leader of European People’s Party, in which he calls on the Georgia’s government to release Merabishvili.

“The legal decision was adopted by the court and the explanations were made by the Ministry of Justice, ” – Janelidze said.

President of the European People’s Party Joseph Daul called on the Georgian government to released former Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili. He has posted the statement on twitter. “Georgian government must immediately release the political prisoner Merabishvili. The most recent ECHR_Press on Merabishvili case demonstrates again that Georgian authorities use the judiciary to suppress its political opponents,” – the twitter post reads.
