Migration Department detains 30 foreign nationals

As part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal migration, officers of the Migration Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained 30 foreign nationals through complex, specialized migration control measures.

According to the MIA, the detained individuals include nationals of India, China, Nigeria, Pakistan, Cameroon, Sudan, Nepal, Kenia and Shri Lanka.

Through checking concrete locations, it was established that their presence in the country contravened the provisions outlined in the Law of Georgia ‘On the Legal Status of Foreigners and Stateless Persons’, the Ministry stated.

The detainees are placed at the Migration Department’s temporary isolator until the necessary procedures for their expulsion are complete.

The Migration Department affirmed that regular immigration control measures will continue to ensure the effective enforcement of Georgia’s legislation regarding the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons.
