Officers of the Abkhazian Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) thwarted an attempt to smuggle a significant quantity of narcotics into Georgia.
They arrested a person, identified as G. Sh., born in 1974, on charges of illegal purchase, possession, and importation of a substantial amount of narcotics into Georgia.
During a thorough inspection of the vehicle driven by the suspect at the Sarpi border checkpoint, law enforcement officers uncovered a large stash of Suboxone pills concealed in a specially prepared hiding place, which they seized as evidence.
The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 262 of the Criminal Code, which carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
