MIA detains Turkish national on charges of illicit drug trafficking and possession
Following a series of operational measures and investigative actions, officers from the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) have apprehended L. K., born in 1992, and I.O., a Turkish citizen born in 2001, on suspicion of illegally purchasing, storing, and facilitating the sale of a substantial quantity of narcotic drugs.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, these offences carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
“During searches of the private residences of the suspects, law enforcement officers also confiscated various types of drugs prepared for sale, including MDMA, Alpha PVP, Methadone, dried marijuana, and herbal cannabis, as well as packaging material. The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260, 260-Quarter, and 265-Prima of the Criminal Code,” the MIA stated.
