Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement on the 64th round of Geneva International Discussions (GID) held on June 25-26 and chaired by Deputy Georgian Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia.
The MFA expressed concern over the unlawful launch of regular flights from the Sokhuri airport in violation of international law principles and norms and the operation of the railway from Russia to Sokumi.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Georgian delegation focused on the fulfilment of commitments taken by Russia under the August 12, 2008 truce agreement and the safe return of IDPs from occupied territories to their homes.
The delegation accentuated the need for the unconditional restoration of Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) Group meetings in Gali and Ergneti.
The Georgian side raised the issue of acute security and humanitarian, human rights situation established by the Russian occupation forces.
The next round of GID will take place on November 11-12, the Ministry reported.
