MEP Andrius Kubilius: Boycott to be unfortunate development but expected
The boycott is an unfortunate development of the events, the Lithuanian MEP Andrius Kubilius said in an interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster. He hopes that the sides would continue the dialogue.
“The boycott is an unfortunate development of events, although we expected it as no agreement has been reached by all the political parties. But still, I hope that the dialogue will continue. I hope that the politicians from both sides, the government, and the opposition, would understand the responsibility for the future of Georgia. The country is now in an important involvement of developments. On the one side, there are challenges in the Caucasus, the situation around Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russian presence. All these demands from Georgia to show that it is different. On the other side, we see or hear some rumours from the west community about some steps that can be taken from NATO or your side for integration for the best interests of Georgia. It will be very bad if Georgia fails to use these possibilities due to not having proper functioning parliament, so that is why we are concerned”, Andrius Kubilius said.
