Members of NATO Parliamentary Assembly expressed support to Georgia's integration into NATO
In a declaration at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly’s Spring Session the lawmakers expressed support to Georgia’s integration into the North Atlantic Alliance.
The document, adopted at the end of the Spring Session in Warsaw, emphasizes the strong support to Georgia’s territorial integrity and state sovereignty.
Parliamentarians from NATO nations condemn the occupation of Georgia’s territories by Russia.
“We urge NATO members to emphasize the prospect of membership of aspirant countries, at the same time, maintain the membership criteria; continue Georgia’s strong political and practical support in the process of integration into NATO; develop and advance the political aspect of Georgia’s NATO membership process; once again, we condemn Russia’s illegal annexation of Crimea, destabilization in eastern Ukraine, occupation of territories of Georgia and Ukraine as well. Allies must prove the unconditional support to sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and Ukraine “, – reads the document adopted by the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
Lawmakers urged the leaders to maintain a dual track Russia policy of defence and deterrence to counter Moscow’s efforts destabilize NATO allies and neighbours, linked with openness to “meaningful dialogue.”
