A massive fire that erupted at the Borjomi Railway Station market area in Tbilisi has now been extinguished, and firefighting teams are currently attending to the location affected by the blaze. Dozens of rescue personnel have been deployed to the scene to handle the aftermath.

The fire broke out in a section of the market containing clothing, fruits, vegetables, and various storage facilities. Fortunately, there are no reported injuries resulting from the incident.

The initial outbreak of the fire caused widespread concern within the community, with preliminary reports indicating it spread rapidly over an estimated 15,000 square meters.

Emergency management services acted swiftly to contain the situation. Levan Museliani, head of the Tbilisi Fire and Rescue Forces, provided an update, affirming that firefighting teams were on-site and effectively working to manage the flames.

“According to information from the emergency hotline 112, the fire began near the Borjomi Railway Station. Our teams arrived promptly. We successfully contained the fire at this stage. Additionally, patients from nearby clinics were evacuated to ensure their safety. The situation is now under control,” Museliani stated.

As a precautionary measure, patients from surrounding clinics were evacuated, and ambulances transported them to nearby medical facilities.

The blaze primarily affected the mixed market area and broke out just a few hours ago. While firefighting efforts have concluded, the cause of the fire remains undetermined. A thorough investigation will be launched to establish what led to this incident.
