Marta Kos: Georgian government closely follows who we give money to, looking for ways to give money to civil society, not to harm them
“It is very difficult to support civil society in Georgia because the government is closely following who we give the money to,” said Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement at the EU Enlargement Forum.
According to Marta Kos, she met a representative of Georgia at the meeting with representatives of civil society from candidate countries.
“Regarding the support of civil society in Georgia, even though it is now very, very difficult, because the government is closely following who we give the money to, the money will be doubled, and it will be even more. We are now looking for ways to give them the money in a way not to harm their existence. Last week, I had an exchange, a dialogue with representatives of civil society from all candidate countries and also a representative from Georgia,” she said.
