Mamuka Mdinaradze: We appeal to U.S. Embassy to start talking on lifting sanctions on judges

The leader of the parliamentary majority, Mamuka Mdinaradze, on behalf of the parliamentary majority, has appealed to the U.S. Embassy, and Ambassador Robin Dunnigan, “to start a conversation and remove the US-imposed sanctions on the Georgian judges,” stressing “We are categorical in this request.”

Mdinaradze believes “there are no arguments or evidence against the mentioned judges.”

“Until now, we have not seen any evidence that would even confirm the relevance of these sanctions. We believe several judges in Georgia have been suspended without any basis, encouraging a vicious campaign against the court by members of the NGO sector, the United National Movement, and its different branches.

Strasburg verified that the criticism against Lasha Chkhikvadze [judge on the Nika Gvaramia Case] was completely unfounded, and everyone who even indirectly supported it now owes him an apology. He [Chkhikvadze] stated that his son requires some medical attention as a result of the bullying,” Mdinaradze asserted.

The U.S. sanctioned Mikheil Chinchaladze, Levan Murusidze, Irakli Shengelia, and Valerian Tsertsvadze on April 5, 2023.
