Mamuka Bakhtadze: Georgia has a unique geographic location and we can have an important role in fighting against all crimes
“Georgia has a unique geographic location and we can have an important role in fighting against all those crimes that serve as a common challenge to the European family” – stated Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia in his speech delivered at the event dedicated to the Professional Day of Prosecutors today.
Head of Government of Georgia congratulated prosecutors with their professional day and noted that it is the most significant public institution and effective operation of many other agencies depends on the sound performance of the Prosecutor’s Office.
“2018 has turned out to be a special year in your history as Georgia adopted a new edition of the Constitution, which granted guarantees of full independence to you. It is a historic milestone, which is appreciated by each of us and our international partners. Effective operation of the justice system is a corner stone for any democratic society and it is almost impossible to imagine success in other fields without it. You bear a tremendous responsibility and I am convinced that each of you has a very good understanding of that. You also have a full support on the path of further reforms within the system of prosecution and in the context of cooperation with our international partners” noted the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Head of Government of Georgia expressed his sincere gratitude to Ladislav Hamran, Head of EuroJust for visiting Georgia and referred to the agreement concluded by and between the EuroJust and Georgia as a historic milestone.
“Georgian nation made a civilization choice by gearing towards its return to the European family. This road will be full of challenges, however it is vital for us to have the closest sectoral cooperation in every direction, including the justice, to establish the highest standards for you – investigators, prosecutors and judges. Hence, I wish to express special gratitude to everyone, who contributed to the historic agreement concluded by and between EuroJust and Georgia. I am confident that we will play a special role in the fight against trans-national crimes” added the Prime Minister of Georgia.
Excellent performance served as a basis for granting awards to 7 prosecutors at the event held today, out of which 4 received Orders of Honor from the President of Georgia.
