Majority leader views David Arakhamia's demands as ultimatum

“The attitude of David Arakhamia and his accomplices will never shake the historic friendship between two nations,” said Mamuka Mdinaradze, leader of the parliamentary majority remarking on the statement of David Arakhamia, leader of the Servant of the People faction in the Ukrainian RADA.

According to Mdinaradze, Arakhamia’s first demand refers to criminal Saakashvili, the second aims to harm Georgian citizens, and the third one is a dirty lie.

“There is no evidence or confirmed fact that Georgia aids Russia in bypassing sanctions. This is a lie dominating against Georgia for the last 2 years,” he said.

Mdinaradze said that to demand the release of criminal Saakashvili, who is the author of the “cruel system,” is an incorrect form of speaking with a neighbouring state.

“Through their hands, Saakashvili sneaked into Georgia while the Ukrainian authorities alleged that he was in Truskavets. It was their special operation to organize a revolution in Georgia,” he said.

David Arakhamiia, leader of the Servant of the People faction in the Ukrainian RADA said that 3 conditions should be met for the normalization of relations with Georgia: 1. Mikheil Saakashvili (jailed ex-president) should be released and returned to Ukraine; 2. Direct flights with Russia should be suspended; 3. Aiding the aggressor in bypassing sanctions should stop.

On March 10, the Georgian government released a statement expressing hope that the Ukrainian authorities would reconsider decisions that “grossly conflict with the spirit of friendship between Georgia and Ukraine, as well as between the Georgian and Ukrainian peoples.” “First and foremost, it is crucial and imperative for the normalization of relations that the Ukrainian authorities extradite the criminals currently holding high positions in their administration to Georgia,” reads the statement.
