The voting process of local self-government elections in Georgia has officially ended, with polling stations closing at 20:00.

According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 3,513,818 citizens were eligible to vote. Across the country, a total of 3,061 polling stations operated, of which 2,284 were electronic and 777 traditional. Ten additional polling stations were opened in penitentiary institutions.

Twelve political parties were registered for the October 4 elections, listed on the ballot as follows:

  • “Homeland, Language, Faith” – 1;
  • “Conservatives for Georgia” – 3;
  • “Our United Georgia” – 5;
  • “Free Georgia” – 7;
  • “Alliance of Patriots of Georgia” – 8;
  • “Strong Georgia-Lelo” – 9;
  • “Georgia” – 11;
  • “Greens Party” – 12;
  • “People’s State” – 14;
  • “Gakharia for Georgia” 25;
  • “Girchi” – 36;
  • “Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia” – 41.

In Tbilisi, nine mayoral candidates were registered, while all 12 parties submitted lists for the City Council elections. Apart from Tbilisi, 112 mayoral candidates were registered across the remaining 63 municipalities, including four candidates nominated by initiative groups.

As for candidates registered in local single-mandate electoral districts, a total of 2,228 candidates were registered, including 32 candidates nominated by initiative groups. In Tbilisi, there were 160 candidates.

The electoral process was observed by representatives from 28 international and 27 local organisations, while the progress of the elections was reported by nearly a thousand journalists from 73 media outlets.

By 5:00 p.m., 1,175,817 voters had cast their ballots, representing 33.5% of the total electorate, the CEC reported.
