The Lilac Blooming Days festival has opened at the National Botanical Garden of Georgia, offering visitors a chance to enjoy one of the country’s most impressive spring displays, Tbilisi City Hall reported.
The garden’s lilac collection includes around 700 specimens, representing 113 varieties and 10 different species. Established in 1970 and renewed in 2019, it is the largest historical lilac collection in Georgia and reflects decades of botanical research and preservation.
Known for its rich colors and distinctive fragrance, the collection attracts both locals and tourists during the spring season. The lilac garden (Syringarium) is located one kilometer from the central entrance, with special signage guiding visitors to the site.
The Botanical Garden will host visitors for the lilac blooming season until mid-May.
