Lelo's Kharazaradze on Independence Day stresses need for sacrifice, says struggle is ongoing
“We have endured countless struggles and shed much blood over these 107 years to arrive at this moment—the starting point of our freedom as an independent state! Today, we are still fighting! Today, sacrifices are still necessary!,” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze, leader of the Lelo party, on social media.
As Khazaradze emphasized, today even greater strength and courage are required to defend these values.
“107 years ago, when Georgia’s independence was declared, the Georgian nation considered it an honour to protect and preserve it. We have endured countless struggles and shed much blood over these 107 years to arrive at this moment—the starting point of our freedom as an independent state! Today, we are still fighting! Today, sacrifices are still necessary! We stand face to face with the Russian regime, determined to prevent them from taking away what is most precious—our freedom and independence. Therefore, we need even more strength and courage to defend these fundamental values. Today, our freedom depends on changing the Russian regime and securing the release of political prisoners! For this reason, freedom for political prisoners! Long live a free, independent Georgia!” wrote Mamuka Khazaradze.
