Lelo’s Gegelia: We call on Georgian people to cast their ballots, dealing heavy blow to GD regime
“We call on the Georgian people, everyone, to fight in various forms, including voting in the elections and dealing a heavy blow to the Georgian Dream regime,” declared Grigol Gegelia, one of the leaders of Lelo-Strong Georgia, at a briefing.
According to him, the struggle continues. This is a struggle through protest, elections, and international delegitimisation.
“The international isolation of Georgian Dream continues. The promise that normalisation of relations with America would occur after Donald Trump’s inauguration proved to be the same mega-lie that the Georgian Dream malevolent Russian regime has represented for decades. Eight months have passed since January, but this Russian regime remains just as illegitimate and unrecognised as it was before January, after the stolen elections of October 26, 2024.
An initiative for non-recognition of the Georgian Nightmare has been included in the U.S. State Department’s Authorisation Act, which prohibits the U.S. government and any of its various other bodies from recognising the illegitimate government of Georgian Dream. This very significant amendment proposal is linked to Article 313 of the bill, which prohibits the U.S. government from recognising Georgia’s occupied territories. This is a very significant entry in a very significant law, which once again confirms that Georgia’s so-called government is illegitimate. Despite paying millions to lobbyists, nothing changes this fact and nothing will change it, neither in Brussels nor in Washington.
Society must understand that: 1. No normalisation is currently taking place, nor has it ever occurred; 2. The so-called government possesses no legitimacy whatsoever; 3. Without holding new parliamentary elections and releasing all political prisoners, this regime will have no prospect of resetting political relations with either Washington or Brussels; 4. Lelo-Strong Georgia has actively worked, and continues to work, for years, including in Washington, to promote further delegitimisation and sanctions against this regime.
This has always been the course supported by Lelo-Strong Georgia, which has consistently lobbied for it, reflected in all its communications, and emphasised when engaging with the State Department, the Senate, and Congress, and will continue to do so.
Our position has always been and will be that Bidzina Ivanishvili, various members of his malevolent regime, and all those who feed this regime, whether these are propagandists or representatives of other circles who help nourish and sustain this malevolent, anti-Georgian, anti-American, anti-European regime, all must be sanctioned.
This has been, is, and remains Lelo’s only genuine and formal position, which we champion above all else. Once again this year, during several official visits, including twice to Washington, we advocated vigorously for this stance.
The struggle persists, a battle fought through protests, elections, and international delegitimisation. We call on the Georgian people, everyone, to participate in various forms of this struggle and, among other things, to turn out for the elections and deliver a decisive blow to the Georgian Dream regime,” declared Grigol Gegelia.
