Lelo’s Gegelia: New government will pursue ‘connectivity policy’ with US-Euro capital for Anaklia Port

“A policy of connectivity is the correct course of action, and it is precisely what the new national government will pursue. The first step will be the immediate construction of Anaklia Port, powered by American and European capital,” declared Grigol Gegelia, a member of the Lelo-Strong Georgia coalition.

According to him, “the direct consequence of the Georgian Dream regime’s so-called foreign policy is the annihilation of the country’s reputation, the slaughter of investments, and a radical reduction in international political and economic support.”

“‘Today, exceptional importance is placed on nations that serve as connectors rather than dividers. Georgia embodies exactly this role,’ says Ivanishvili’s Foreign Minister, the very face of an administration that deliberately sabotaged the Anaklia Port project. Because of them, Georgia has already squandered seven whole years of economic development; Georgia is failing to act as a gateway between continents; alternative transit routes are about to bypass us entirely; and Georgia is excluded from the Trump-backed corridor of peace and prosperity. This is the direct result of the Georgian Dream’s foreign policy. This is the anatomy of pure sabotage against Georgia, executed to serve Russian interests.

We can all recall over ten occasions when the regime’s leaders announced that work on the port was starting; yet reality proves that not a single thing has been achieved. The legacy of this regime and [Foreign Minister] Botchorishvili is that Yerevan has outpaced Tbilisi in every metric, leaving Georgia to sink into an isolated swamp. When Botchorishvili talks about a ‘policy of connectivity’, it is nothing short of a talentless, tragicomedy in the classic GD style.

A policy of connectivity is the right policy, and it will be implemented by a new national government the moment the Georgian people rid themselves of this foreign body called Georgian Dream. The first step of this policy will be the immediate construction of Anaklia Port using American and European capital, alongside the proactive involvement of Armenia and Azerbaijan in this shared Caucasian venture.

Yet, the clown show in Dubrovnik does not end there. Botchorishvili also claims that ‘Georgia is one of the finest examples for discussing the importance of multi-vector diplomacy in practice.’ No, Maka. If you had spent more time studying back then, instead of career-climbing by clinging to the Saakashvili regime, you would know that Georgia is the worst, most lagging example of multi-vector politics. What exactly constitutes a ‘successful multi-vector policy’ when every single so-called partner of this Georgian Dream regime votes against Georgia at the UN? What does it mean to have a successful multi-vector policy when foreign investment has flatlined? When Georgia’s international political support have completely eroded?

Let me tell you what a successful multi-vector policy actually looks like: it looks like the geopolitical miracle called Yerevan. They are executing a foreign policy grounded in national interest and pragmatism. This entails attracting investment, generating employment, and hosting the US Vice President, the Secretary of State, and EU leaders, all while maintaining a balanced approach within the region. That is the epitome of multi-vector politics. It stands in stark contrast to the GD farce, which has managed neither a ‘multi’ nor a ‘vector’. They have gained zero new partners and have recklessly demolished our old, historic strategic alliances. The fallout from this Georgian Dream ‘foreign policy’ has devastated our national reputation, killed off investment, and further impoverished a struggling nation. It has triggered a radical drop in international support, and a twisted reality where friends are treated as enemies and enemies as friends. This is a GD anti-foreign policy, and every single Georgian is paying a staggering economic and political price for it,” Grigol Gegelia stated.
