Lelo's Datunashvili welcomes colleagues’ agreement on basic positions but affirms non-participation in opposition unity
“I welcome it if our colleagues have reached an agreement on fundamental positions and strategic outlooks. We have already stated that, at this particular moment, we will not be part of any opposition alliance,” said Tazo Datunashvili, a member of Strong Georgia – Lelo.
According to Datunashvili, Lelo has chosen to adopt an independent stance in the political arena, opposing the Ivanishvili regime.
“The colleagues decided to pursue this effort collectively, but we have chosen to act independently because we need to maintain a clear and sharp position vis-à-vis the electorate, including those who, in our view, are not currently part of this unity and hold different priorities. We have previously articulated our stance on this matter. Of course, it would be highly positive if, in the process, we found some consensus and shared strategic goals in this struggle,” Datunashvili added.
For the context, nine opposition parties recently announced an agreement on a unified strategy and shared rules of engagement.
