Lelo-Strong Georgia views Aleko Elisashvili's move as unacceptable, unjustified
“Aleko Elisashvili’s move is unacceptable and unjustified for us,” reads the statement of the Lelo-Strong Georgia posted on social media.
According to the statement, Elisashvili admitted that this was an act of one person against the regime.
“Aleko Elisashvili’s move today is unacceptable and unjustified for us. Aleko Elisashvili has repeatedly been a victim of injustice and violence by the regime, and his admission is proves that this is an act of one person against the regime. We must not allow the regime to drive us to despair through systemic violence and injustice and to make us abandon peaceful and legal ways to fight against tyranny, which was and will remain the core principle for the Lelo-Strong Georgia,” reads the statement.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) stated earlier that Aleko Elisashvili, one of the leaders of the Lelo-Strong Georgia coalition, was arrested after attempting to set fire to the Tbilisi City Court registry building at dawn today.
“Aleko Elisashvili’s only regret is that he was just a few seconds short of seeing his act through to completion,” his lawyer, Giorgi Rekhviashvili, has stated.
