Legislative change allows more employment of interns at public institutions

Legislative changes will allow for more employment of interns at public institutions based on the amendments proposed by the parliamentary Georgian Dream (GD) faction.

The acting law envisages giving jobs to no more than 10% of interns at public institutions. The 10% restriction will be changed to 20% based on the amendment. Also, interns will get paid during business trips.

“The increase in the number of interns will not only strengthen students’ skills and knowledge but represent a decisive step in their professional development. Significantly, public institutions would gain additional motivated human resources that would be a step forward in the implementation of public duties efficiently,” reads the explanatory notice.
